Students awarded grades for exams they never sat

Some students who did not sit last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination were awarded impressive mean grades, the Nation has learnt. The principal of Thurdibuoro Secondary school in Nyando District, Mr Alfred Ochiel, said one of his students who did not attempt the exams was graded. “This candidate in my school abandoned the exams midway. Normally, such candidates are not graded but KNEC decided to give him a D+,” he said. Teachers interviewed who did not want their names mentioned said they knew of a student in a city school who was awarded A- mean grade though he did not sit the exam. Another candidate in the city who was disqualified after being caught cheating was later given a B+ score by the examination council. The outcry over the integrity of the examination council compelled Education minister Sam Ongeri to form a 15 member committee chaired by Kenyatta University vice-chancellor Oliver Mugenda to investigate the results. In Rongo, a candidate who was expelled from school and did not turn up for the exams was awarded an A-. His head teacher was shocked to learn that the boy had “passed” so highly. Education PS Karega Mutahi has downplayed the gravity of the matter. Knec secretary Paul Wasanga said the anomalies will be part of the investigations. He said the team should be given a chance to unearth the details about the computer error or any other cause of the cheating”. Mr Wasanga said with 276,000 candidates, each sitting 22 papers, such mistakes were bound to happen and if discovered the matter will be dealt with accordingly. He said results for candidates who did not sit exams could have been released if other students erred by shading wrong index numbers. However, the examinations chief said he could not rule out anomalies. Mr Wasanga accused some principals of malice for “releasing result slips to the wrong hands and then turning to condemn Knec which they form part of as de facto officials.” He said some candidates could have forgotten their index numbers and marked wrong ones therefore enabling the computer memory to produce results in the programmed formula. He explained that the committee would investigate in detail the errors because in some instances, candidates who sat half the exams or did not complete due to unknown reasons also got results. A principal said one set of results was given in February and another one in March when those who did not sit exams were awarded mean grades. Kenya Post Primary Education Teachers Union secretary general Wanyonyi Buteyo said they would move to court to have the council dissolved because it had compromised the integrity of the country’s academic standards and certificates. Mr Buteyo said the minister was delaying justice but forming a probe committee in a clear case of incompetence.

In the first place, you are Kibaki's sycophants and cheer leaders. You have blindly supported him on his journey to destroy the community and the country with his lack of leadership.

Your children are beneficiaries of the enormous wealth, which you have stolen from 1963 and before ’63, benefits given to you as bribes by the colonialists with whom you were collaborating. All these years, you have sucked our blood. You live on our sweat and you now have the audacity to style yourselves the saviours of our community!

In 1992, you conspired to stop Hon. Kenneth Matiba who cares for the poor and has no time for your class system from taking over as President. You, the “Royal Families” rallied behind Kibaki and formed D.P. at the 11th hour to split the Kikuyu vote. To you Moi was preferable to Matiba and his supporters who were “tumundu tutu” You do not care at all about the thousands displaced from their farms, businesses and properties. If truth be told, you do not care how many more are killed.

All you care about is your hold on power to continue with your obscene accumulation. This is why even now you are leading the country to civil war and disintegration. You have killed thousands of our young men whose only crime is being poor and unemployed on the pretext that you are “crashing”and wiping out “mungiki”. Only recently, you murdered Boniface Maina and his wife Elizabeth Nyambura in cold blood and dumped their bodies at Karura forest.

Their young children are now orphans. And you entrusted the crashing to Kimendero the crusher to continue and finish the job he was doing in the 1950’s! You can rely on the pseudo mungiki youths who in truth are merchants on hire claiming the brand name mungiki.Before on behalf of the Community we confront those in the country who think they can isolate and exterminate the Kikuyu community, we shall sort you out first.

You are the Traitors to the community. Your stomachs is your only concern. When you are issuing your threats; do NOT for one moment think that you have the monopoly of violence. What you have is the wealth stolen from the masses and we shall come for that too.

Do not ostracize one of your own Charles Mugane Njonjo because of his personal differences with Kibaki. He is one of you. The others are Emilio Mwai Kibaki, John Njoroge Michuki, James Njenga Karume, George Kamau Muhoho, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, constituting the House of Lords and the recently constituted cast of Maina Kamanda, Amos Kimunya, Martha Karua, George Thuo, Dick Wathika, Lee Muchiri, Beth Mugo, na kanda cianyu cia moko, Murathe, Muigai Njoroge and Kamau Ngunjiri. Kenyan boy loses eye in political argument

A 13 year old boy in Kenya's border town of Busia has lost an eye after an argument with his playmate as to which of the two political parties— ODM and PNU was better than the other.The bizzare incident took place as the dialogue process mediated by Former United Nation's secretary General Kofi Annan pledged to de al with the political crisis in the next 48-72 hours.Busia police boss, Paul Kariuki said that Benjamin Otieno was hit on his left eye with a nail by his playing mate at Busia airstrip estate after they failed to agree on which was the strong party between ODM and PNU.The boy’s mother took him to Alupe Hospital where the eye was removed and the boy discharged. The assailant is still at large said the police boss.

Bandit president Kibaki stole last Dec 27 election from the winner Raila Odinga. Mr Odinga's party, ODM, enjoys support in six out of Kenya's eight provinces. Mr Kibaki won in only two provinces, his native Central Province and the neighbouring Eastern Province. He has since entered into an embattled coalition with the man who came a distant third, bandit vice president Kalonzo Musoka.

That the political differences can be played out by 13-year olds is a sure recipe for stigma to last generations. PNU is hanging on to power in the face of the Annan mediation efforts which could bring into being a grand coalition between the PNu and ODM pending a rerun of either the general election or the presidential vote in three years. Analysts contend that success of the Annan deal could spell doom for omk-k and Kalonzo Musyoka who is widely regarded as a traitor to democracy in Kenya.

Kibaki and Raila to meet Friday evening

Bandit president Mwizi Kibaki and People's president Raila Odinga will meet this evening-Friday at Harambee House to unlock the talks. Reeling from the no-nonsense approach that the US has slapped a travel ban on Kibaki, the PNU thief is ready to cede some substantial ground. This comes after Raila was advised by some diplomatic friends to beat PNU to the tape and show a commitment to melt down from the demands earlier placed at the Annan mediation table. Having gone public on this yesterday, he beat PNU to the cue and left them misjudging his tactical move. It is reported that ODM has a well-scripted riot act and the rules don't change much because the inputs of the security, diplomatic, legal and political brains were put together in a working blue-print complete with step-by-step agreements to be signed before the mediators.

This stance initially sent shivers to his supporters but when word began to filter through of the intricate dealing, all those concerned gave it a thumbs-up. It is known that the ODM diplomat-in-chief Dr Sally Kosgei is a former classmate and good friend of both Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

Why does God allow this in Kenya

While Kenya is smouldering in flames of hate and collapsing under the weight of theft, God is letting the perpetrators go about scot-free. Why does this happen in Kenya with impunity? Where is the God of Justice when innocent blood is shed, lives are squeezed out and the men who fund these goons still walk around flaunting about these miseries that they visit on us? Where is justice in Kenya?
